Getting water from a private well can give you peace of mind that you know that your drinking water is good quality. However, is this really so? Unfortunately, there is no easy way to be sure of the quality of the water in your well unless you spend the time and money on getting it checked at a lab. There are many things that exist naturally that could make it into your water, and there are also chemicals that could end up in the well water through human error.
How can you keep your source of water as safe as possible?
Make sure that there are no chemicals spilled on the ground anywhere near where you get your water. Keep a distance of at least 50 feet between your septic system and your well. You also shouldn’t park any cars or machinery near the well.
Once you get your report from the lab, check and see what needs addressing, and take care of it as soon as possible.
